TWITTER BLACKBIRDS BRANDING

The Twitter Blackbirds BRG, is a Twitter group that aims to strengthen the roots of people of color while spreading and amplifying our joy, successes, and illuminating the beautiful differences in Black cultures globally. All while creating a deeper Global Blackbirds connection and empowering self love and self worth within the @Blackbirds community (both personally and professionally.

#TakeUpSpace is an invitation to be you, it’s a reminder that you matter, and that you deserve to be here because you belong.

MISSION

To invite our Blackbird members and community to celebrate who they are, their unique stories and remind them that they matter and they deserve to be where they are. #TakeUpSpace is an invitation to do just that.

IDEA

Beyond our Blackbirds engagements, we want to leave members with one key message: #TakeUpSpace. This theme builds intent into our programming, it enables us to remind each other and ourselves that we belong - one of our 3 BRG pillars (belonging, community, empowerment). It’s a powerful call-to-action, it’s a statement we can encourage on Twitter (platform), it's a prideful phrase to wear on future merch, it’s an invitation to external and future guests to elaborate on how they have taken up space. It’s a reminder that we deserve to be here.  

CREATIVE

With the @Blackbirds #TakeUpSpace hands up emoji setting the tone for all Toolkit elements, we retain the feelings of empowerment, belonging, and pride, while integrating both complementary brand colors and textures as well as a color palette of gold, black, red, and green lifted directly from the supplied cover art of the book Wrapped in Pride: Ghanaian Kente and African American Identity.
